How much is the radio and TV fee, and how is the money used?

The radio and TV fee was 2 400 SEK/year until 31 December 2018. The radio and TV fee was replaced with a general public service fee 1 January 2019. The new fee is handled by the Swedish Tax Agency.

This is how much the TV fee was until 31 December 2018:

  •   SEK 200/month
  •   SEK 2 400/year

The fee finances public service:

  • Sveriges Television (SVT)
  • Sveriges Radio (SR)
  • Sveriges Utbildningsradio (UR, educational broadcasting) 

The Swedish parliament has decided to replace the current radio and TV fee with a general public service fee as of 1 January 2019.
