All businesses and organizations that own, rent or borrow a TV-receiver are obliged to pay radio- and TV-fee. Even if the TV-receiver is used for other purposes than watching TV, the company still has to pay the fee. It´s the possession of a TV-receiver that counts. Paying one single fee covers all TV-receivers within the company.
The legal definition of a TV-receiver is: "a device designed to receive TV-programs regardless broadcasting technique". Some examples:
- digital tv-box
- computers with a TV-card
- video with tuner
- recordable dvd-player
Certificate of seal
A company can be exempted from the fee obligation in accordance with § 5 in the act on Financing of public service radio and television. The exception applies to television receivers that are located in the premises of the company if "specific action is taken" so that the receiver cannot be used for television. For example the channel selector or antenna input can be sealed. The seal must be made so that the television receiver cannot be used to receive television programs, for example by blocking the aerial input.
